Blackberry Basil Traditional Spritzer with blackberries and basil garnish

This Blackberry Basil Traditional Spritzer is a deep-purple, fizzy summer cooler — muddled blackberries and basil meet the rich, syrupy sweetness of our 18 Year Traditional Balsamic for a drink that's as pretty as it is refreshing.

Blackberry Basil Traditional Spritzer

Ingredients: 2 servings

  • 1 cup fresh blackberries
  • 6 fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons Redstone Traditional Balsamic Vinegar
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1 tablespoon agave nectar
  • 1 1/2 cups chilled sparkling water
  • Ice
  • Whole blackberries and basil leaves, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a pitcher or cocktail shaker, muddle the blackberries and basil leaves until the berries break down and release their juice.
  2. Stir in the Traditional Balsamic, lemon juice, and agave nectar until combined.
  3. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into two ice-filled glasses to remove seeds and basil bits.
  4. Top each glass with sparkling water, garnish with whole blackberries and basil leaves, and serve immediately.

Tip: swap in blueberries or ripe strawberries if blackberries aren't in season. For an adult version, add 1 1/2 oz vodka or gin per glass.
