Ingredients:
½ cup popcorn kernels
3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
½ teaspoon sea salt (or to taste)
Instructions:
Step 1: - Heat the Oil
On a medium heat, put a large heavy-bottomed pot on your stovetop.
Pour in the olive oil to the pot.
Once you have added the oil to the pot, let it warm up at this temperature for 1 minute.
Step 2: - Test the Oil
Dropping in 2-3 of the popcorn kernels.
Once 1 pops, the oil is hot enough!
Step 3: - Add The Kernels
Add the rest of the kernels to the pot.
Cover your pot with a lid (slightly ajar so that steam escapes).
Hold the pot, and shake it a little to coat all the kernels in oil so they do not burn.
Step 4: - Wait to Listen for those pops
Listen closely to the pops!
Once the popping has slowed to 1-2 pops per second, carefully remove pot from the heat.
Step 5: - Season & Enjoy
Carefully pour the popcorn into a large bowl.
Leaving your popcorn hot, add sea salt and your favourite toppings.
Toss together until the toppings are evenly coating the popcorn, and enjoy!
⭐ Pro Tips:
Always keep the medium heat; olive oil really does burn at too high of a temperature!
To up the crunch factor, if you want crunchy popcorn please don't crowd the pot too much with too many kernels.
Experiment with flavour combinations such as garlic + parmesan, paprika + chili flakes, or even a drizzle of honey for a sweet and salty suprise!
